The history of American costume jewelry company Gold Crown Inc., began about 65 years ago in Providence. Incorporated 30 November 1956 as a domestic profit corporation at the address 403 Charles Street Providence 02904 RI, the company ceased to exist in 1990s. Ronald P. Rotondo (1931-1984), the president of the company, headed it all his life. Noteworthy, the company owned Master Gifts, Inc. (1989), Central Novelty Co. (1988), and two more trademarks.
High quality pieces by GC are desirable for collectors of vintage jewelry, and their price will grow every year. Exquisite filigree design and high quality materials contribute to this. Traditionally, craftsmen used silver or gold tone alloys, pewter, multicolor enamels, plastic and rhinestones.
The marking included “Gold Crown Inc”, or “Gold Crown”, however, some series came with hang tags.
