Signed Nuri vintage costume jewelry
The history of the American jewelry brand Nuri spans a fairly short period, just over two decades. Founded in 1978 in the coastal city of Bellingham, Washington State, Nuri Fashion Designs Ltd. owned two jewelry brands, “Nuri” and “Watercolors”, registered in 1984 and 1992, respectively. The Watercolors was active for five years, and Nuri brand ceased to exist in 2006.
Despite the short period of time, Nuri craftsmen have created fabulous collection of jewelry pieces distinguished by their unique geometric design. These are brooches and earrings handcrafted in Neo Deco style, with the use of multicolor abalone. Also, the designers used pewter, sterling silver, and rhinestones.
Noteworthy, the jewelry components were made in Taiwan and hand-assembled in the USA. The marking on the back of each piece includes the word “Nuri” in fancy script and a copyright sign.
