Most recently, one of the most luxurious and famous jewelry houses Van Cleef & Arpels presented the new Seven Seas jewellery collection. The collection was so successful that is now considered worthy to enter the history of fine jewelry. Presented in Paris Van Cleef jewels were created by artists inspired by the sea wanderings
Noteworthy the same title have poetic works of the famous storyteller traveler Rudyard Kipling. Seven Seas – Black, Caspian, Mediterranean, Red, Arabic, Adriatic and Atlantic and Indian oceans – defined the mood of refined intricate jewelry.
Van Cleef has always used bright colors in jewelry, and never restricted the use of certain diamonds. White cultured pearls, blue, pink and yellow sapphires, garnets, emeralds, turquoise, lapis lazuli – VC jewelers traditionally used these stones. All these gems got a new sound in the “Seven seas”.
This long necklace features a seahorse motif decorated with a gradation of sapphires and cabochon-cut chalcedony. White cultured pearls and onyx beads subtly come together around the motif, reflecting the duality attributed to the creature represented: half-horse, half-fish.
Costume jewellery gained not only aqua colors, but the forms of sea inhabitants. The designers did not forget the fact that the sea is the coast as well. Among the decorations dedicated to the Mediterranean is, for example, stunningly beautiful convertible coral necklace of flamingos.
