Port Townsend, Washington-based artists Cris Busch Lyons and Glenn Mullen Lyons founded their family business Zirkus Inc. in 1986. Their company name Zirkus, and brand logo in the form of a circus rhinoceros juggling a ball reference circus animals, which is not accidental. It was stamps with images of circus animals found in her grandparents’ house that inspired Cris to create a line of animal silhouette jewelry and ornaments.
Created in the 1980s and 90s, most of the jewelry pieces marked Zirkus are collectible vintage. Handcrafting jewelry, which is truly wearable art, Cris Busch Lyons used sterling silver, copper, and brass. Unique and sometimes whimsical designs are especially appealing to those who like simple but bold high-quality jewelry without stones and rhinestones.
Philanthropists, artists and entrepreneurs, Glenn and Cris now run a gift shop, Summer House Design, where they sell both their jewelry and the glass sculptures Glenn created.
