Signed LG Louis Giusti vintage jewelry
Hereditary jeweler, artist and designer, Louis R Giusti was born in 1936 in Rhode Island, United States to Louis Giusti and Dora N Giusti. Noteworthy, his American born father Louis Giusti and his brothers Frank J. Guisti and Alfred Giusti belonged to the first manufacturing jewelers of Italian birth engaged in jewelry and the wholesale business in Providence.
Louis R. Giusti graduated from Vesper George School of Art in Boston. The US Patent office records from 1972 show that Giusti was the author of several works of art. Giusti was undoubtedly a professional artist first and foremost, that’s why he marked his jewelry with an artist’s palette.
He created unique jewelry for three decades, from the late 1960s to 1990. In 1995, he founded Giusti Fine Art, Inc., registered in Naples, Florida (inactive).
Interestingly, Giusti created two lines of jewelry – modernist and abstract, as well as traditional jewelry with floral, leaf, and animalistic designs. The only way to tell that all these pieces belong to the same designer is by the marking in the form of a palette with the jeweler’s initials LG within it.
It should be noted that Giusti jewelry is often mistakenly confused with jewelry from another brand, Lind-Gal, a New York jewelry company known since 1952. However, the marking of this company is simpler, and includes the initials LG on a rectangular cartouche. Also, another well-known New York company, George Lederman Inc. (founded in 1945), marked its jewelry LG. However, the style of the marking, as well as the indication of the karat of gold, confirms that the company has no relation to Giusti.
