Signed Dorene vintage costume jewelry

Founded in 1960 in Dublin, Irish company Dorene Ltd created fashionable clothes and accessories, including jewelry that adorned dresses, suits and coats at fashion shows. The company flourished in the 1960s, when the Dorene brand appeared on the pages of Vogue magazine. In addition, the company opened offices in London and Paris.

However, Dorene produced jewelry for a short period of time, just over a decade. Today, these pieces are extremely rare and have a high collector’s value.

Dorene jewelry is characterized by exquisite metalworking, including gold and sterling silver. Traditionally, the designs included an iconic Celtic motif with intricate intertwined patterns symbolizing eternal life and the interconnectedness of all things. Enthusiastic adopters of modern designs, Dorene also jewelers appealed to young female consumers, who desired style and value for money. Dorene craftsmen often used natural stones, such as the unique green stone from the west of Ireland – Connemara marble, as well as agate, cultured pearls and glass. The markings on the back of the products included a stylized “Dorene” on a rectangular cartouche, without a copyright sign.
