Rch-King Vintage Fine Costume Jewelry
Providence-based jewelry company Richardson King Co. was primarily active in the 1960s. Founded by Richardson Klein (president and treasurer) and Norma Klein (vice president and secretary), the company operated under the Rch-King brand. According to the Polk’s Providence (Providence County, Rhode Island) city directory, the company’s address was 55 Eddy St. Providence, Rhode Island.
A family owned business on manufacture of fine costume jewelry was quite successful. The company sold its high-quality jewelry in large department stores, and had an office in New York City.
The craftsmen made jewelry by hand, with the use of 12 K gold, sterling silver, cultured pearls and natural stones – amethyst, carnelian, ruby, jade, etc. The jewelry range included brooches, pendants, charms, earrings, necklaces and bracelets in classical or modernist styles. The maker’s mark includes “Rch-King” on an oval cartouche, also sterling or 1-20 12K G.F. Made from fine materials and high quality workmanship, Rch-King jewelry has stood the test of time, and is undoubtedly collectible.
