The history of Dalsheim jewelry brand began in the late 1930s, founded by Maurice J. Dalsheim. New York City based Dalsheim Accessories Inc. produced necklaces, bracelets, brooches, pendants and earrings. Traditionally, the craftsmen used bronze, or silvertone and goldtone metal bases. For decorating they used fresh water and faux pearls, art glass imitating topaz, sapphire, emerald, amethyst, and onyx. Also, Austrian glass crystals, rhinestones and carved Lucite of various colors.
Popular fashion magazines, including Vogue (1958) advertized Dalsheim jewelry.
Noteworthy, the early products of Dalsheim didn’t have marks on them, and they released their costume jewellery with paper labels. The first marked jewelry appeared in 1939, and in 1955 they added the copyright symbol. Incorporated in 1934, Dalsheim Accessories Inc. ceased to exist in 1956.

Noteworthy, DRGM is an abbreviation for the German patent mark – Deutsches Reichs Gebrauchs Muster. According to sources, it was Pforzheim, Germany based jewelry manufacturer Schreiber & Hiller who registered DGRM in 1930.
Although the brand “DRGM” is better known for various products: watches, toys, bottle openers, cameras, etc, yet, the jewelry of the firm “DRGM” also deserves attention. In fact, many German jewelry manufacturers used this brand for their products. Traditionally, DRGM jewelry is made of transparent rock crystal and zinc alloys, and often covered with rhodium. Also, most products have clearly defined geometric shapes and are created in Art Deco and Early Art Nouveau styles.
The company appears to have ceased production during the Second World War. Indeed, it’s impossible to find an original 1930s piece with this desirable DRGM mark.

The history of Elzac jewelry began in 1940 when Eliot and Ruth Handler, alongside with their partner Zachary Zemby, founded their company Elzac (Eliot + Zachary). Headquartered in Los Angeles, the company used innovative materials such as ceramic, lucite, fur, feathers, cloth, and wood in unusual, whimsical ways. Incorporated in 1940, Elzac California Jewelry & Gift Ware ceased to exist in 1947.
The demand for costume jewelry was high, and it was an ideal time for for such an innovative jewelry designs. Noteworthy, Eliot jewelers constructed and finished their decorations entirely by hand.
Already in 1941 their products achieved great success and popularity over the next several years. It was during this period when more conventional jewelry materials were in short supply.
Meanwhile, in 1943 the company launched the “Black Magic” line with beautiful decorations made from black plexiglas.
Unfortunately, the popularity of Elzac design waned rapidly after the war, and the company stopped production.

The history of Silson jewellery spans a short period – a little more than a decade. Founded in 1937 by two brothers Victor and Jack Silberfeld, British citizens, who later changed their name to Silson. The main designer, whose name we meet most frequently, was Victor Silson. However, among other designers who worked for Silson were Samuel Rubin and George Stangl. Also, three more jewelry designers – Howard Chandler Christy, Sue Harrison and Sally Stark worked for the company.
Traditionally, Silson designers used gold-plated metal, enamel, lucite and rhinestones.
Noteworthy, Silson became famous for their line of patriotic and military jewelry produced during the WWII. In particular, brooches depicting American Eagle, Flag, Air Forces, British and American Ambulance Corps, or The Young Women’s Christian Association.
According to various sources, Silson Inc. of New York ceased to exist in the late 1940s. And the designers of Silson company later worked for the Mexican Spratling Co., which specialized in sterling silver jewelry.
