Signed HB Heyman Brothers jewellery
The history of Oscar Heyman & Bros., Inc. began in 1912 in New York at 58 W 40th St. New York City. Emigrants from Russia, the family consisted of nine siblings. They moved to New York in 1906. Two brothers, Oscar and Nathan, had apprenticed at a Faberge factory, while another brother was an accomplished toolmaker. Together, they launched Oscar Heyman & Brothers jewelry company in 1912. The brothers were master platinum-smiths who utilized only the finest diamonds and colored gems.
Noteworthy, in the 1930-40s the company produced top tier jewelry for such iconic brands as Tiffany & Co., Cartier, Van Cleef & Arpels, and others. Flower brooches became the company’s hallmark. The marking includes “HB”, or “OHB” (Oscar Heyman Brothers). Yet, unstamped pieces require specialists’ authentication.
Traditionally, the jewelers used the old world techniques of tool making, fine platinum and gold metal-smithing.
Incorporated in 1912, the company is still active.
