Mary Frost Vintage Costume Jewelry

New York-based jewelry designer Mary Frost created runway jewelry in the 1980s and 1990s. Featured in fashion shows, her jewelry often appeared on the pages of magazines. For example, American Craft magazine in 1983 mentions Mary Frost among other leading designers of the time – Juanita Addeo, Lane Trubey, Michael Greene, Patricia Gordon, Irwin Gross, Gloria Lowe, and others. Her work – bracelets, earrings, necklaces and brooches – adorned models on the pages of Mademoiselle (July 11th, 1990), and New York Magazine (1989).
Fashion jewelry with the stylized “Mary Frost” mark was sold in the “Jaded” store on Madison Avenue in New York City, which opened in 1984. In addition, according to advertising posters from the 1980s, boutiques in Bal Harbour, Florida and Dallas, Texas also offered Mary Frost’s exquisite fashion jewelry.
Mary Frost favored geometric designs, the use of multi-colored crystals and glass, framed in gold or silver. Her brightly colored jewelry reflected the fashion of the 1980s with equally brightly colored elements of clothing and accessories. During the disco era, large, multicolor jewelry was in fashion, and bracelets, both metal and plastic, were worn in large quantities on the wrist.
Today, Mary Frost jewelry is almost impossible to find, and it is highly collectible.
