The history of the costume jewelry brand C.Kellner began in 1972 in New York City and lasted for more than two decades. Its founder was a renowned jewelry designer and artist Carol Joan Kellner. Born in New York on August 19, 1929, to Leo Linzer and Frances Sender, Carol Joan Linzer studied art at the City University of New York, from which she graduated in 1950. The following year, she married Louis Kellner, with whom she had two children and lived for almost 30 years until his death in 1980.
Carol Joan Kellner founded her family business Carol Kellner Inc for the production of costume jewelry in 1972. Handcrafting unique artisan brooches, pins and earrings the designer used high quality metal alloy of gold tone, silver and enamel. Undoubtedly, the design of her jewelry reflects the personality and interests of the artist herself, who was fond of going to the theater, tap dancing, playing tennis, and drawing. That’s why most of her jewelry is made in the form of dancing ballerinas, jumping gymnasts, running athletes.
Notably, she was a member of the dance industry supply organization known as UDMA (United Dance Merchants of America). Also, Kellner entered the list of the most prominent American jewelry designers, according to Marquis Who’s Who. Jewelry items marked C.Kellner are extremely rare and highly collectible.
