Bar-Jam vintage gold filled jewelry

The history of the American jewelry brand Bar-Jam began in 1946 in Providence, Rhode Island and lasted no more than ten years. The founder and president of the company was a jeweler of Italian origin Antonio Cardillo.

Located at 86 Page St., Providence 3, R. I., Bar-Jam Jewelry Company Inc produced exquisite jewelry using gold and Austrian crystals. The classic post-war refined style of jewelry included sets of necklaces and earrings, brooches and pendants.

Hand-made with high quality workmanship and the use of the best materials allowed these pieces to stand the test of time. The marking on the cartouche in the form of a shield includes a stylized Bar-Jam and an indication of the karat of gold.

Bar-Jam jewelry is extremely rare on the vintage jewelry market and has high collectible value. Unfortunately, there is very little information about the company itself. However, the Providence business directory and archive records for 1948 Buyers’ Guide contain several references to the company, including advertisements published in these directories.

Some owners of such jewelry date them to the 1930s and even the 1920s, which is entirely possible, but the only reference to the company is from 1948.
