Romantic steampunk jewellery by Anna Ustinova
Anna Ustinova – Steampunk master and founder of Romantic steampunk style, which she invented at the end of 2008. This very style is present in all of her creations. Romantic steampunk jewellery by Anna Ustinova – earrings, pendants, necklaces, brooches, bracelets and rings – copyright handmade decorations which conquered not one heart in her native Siberian city of Tomsk, and also far beyond its borders. Most of her jewelry is very complex and extremely beautiful, it is not just hanging on a chain metal stuff, it is something more – true works of art. In her jewelry she uses watch parts and mechanisms of gold 14, 18 and 24 carats, sometimes she also adds to her decorations very rare mechanisms of 1905, 1930 and 1960.
“My Angel” – made in the author technique, applied carved plastic, painstaking and complex work on the smallest details of the wing (all this is not done in a single step), a special coating, on both sides of the product. The wizard also uses silver plating, semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, adding tiny watch parts on the author’s sketches.
Anna works in the fashionable design direction grew out of science fiction. Steampunk simulates a world in which the dominant place is occupied by non-electronic technology, mechanics and steam engines. Steampunkers dress up in stylized Victorian England clothes, in all sorts of gear used ornaments, dangling on the massive chains. Their interiors are complemented by vintage typewriters and other ancient mechanisms. Anna saw steampunk otherwise – elegant and sophisticated.
The work requires a lot of perseverance and accuracy, and unfortunately spoils the eyesight. Today, painting, jewelry making – the main source of income for Anna. She was able to collaborate with one of watchmaking shop, who supply her with watch parts necessary for creativity. Anna sells her works in the “Tomsk Arbat” – they are very popular. But the craftswoman does not work on commission – she gave herself such a vow.
– I had a period when I wanted to sell as much as possible to earn more – says the girl. – I made orders faster and faster. And then there was a terrible apathy – lost interest in everything. And first of all – the desire to be creative.
She asked her guardian angel to return inspiration to her, and promised that would never do soulless crafts. And she was heard. Waking up one morning, Anna again felt the power to create.
Anna Ustinova received strict education. Her father – a police captain, her mother – a lawyer. Question about what profession Anna should get did not stand – the girl was destined to go to law school. To paint – such work is poorly paid and frivolous. It is necessary to become a specialist. Anya nodded. Regularly visited the university, but didn’t have any pleasure in studying. Then she abandoned state exams, worked as a supervisor in the security business. And the first creative work – courses of manicure, and nail design. Anna felt unprecedented creative impulse. She woke up in the morning and felt that she lived.
And the first person who supported her in creative endeavors, was her husband, Alexander. He always believed in her. His support – a source of inspiration for Anna.
